Holy God,
It is hard to be thankful of new things. It is hard to be excited about the renewal when we are surrounded in darkness. We cry out for your mercies while we cry out for your justice. The early dawn does not renew us, but brings a chill to our bones. We feel thin and frail. Our anxiety has become personified into the greatest of monsters. Its shadow has overtaken us. We shake and our muscles are tense but we know no warmth. Our minds run and spiral. We cannot find rest. If we are to perceive the new, Holy God help us to see it. Send your Holy Spirit to warm us from within. Give us the inspiration to reframe what we see before us. We beg for sustenance through this time of waiting. A light of hope creaking through the door. Help us to follow the path you have laid before us when we stumble. We wait patiently for the work of your son Jesus Christ. The one who came and will come again. The one who feed us from his body and blood upon the table that stretches throughout all time and place. Amen.
